The pharmacognosy department was established in 1994 as part of pharmacognosy and chemistry department then it was separated in 2011. Head department of pharmcognosy: 1. Prof. Elhadi Mohammed Ahmed 1994-2011. 2. Dr. Nazar Sirag 2011-2015. 3. Dr. Abdelgadir Alamin 2015-uptodate.

Objectives

- To graduate qualified pharmacists at the level of B.Pharm and postgraduate in the Pharmacognosy and Phytochemistry discipline
- Conducting and publishing high quality scientific researches in the Pharmacognosy discipline and executing it in the field of medicinal plants verifying folk using
- To contribute actively in capacity building of health care providers
- To participate in community awareness of medication safety and safety in the use of natural products and food supplements.
- To enhance local and global scientific correlations between the college and the academic researches and industrial institutions
